Home cooking taught by home cooks.

Louise Buchanan and Gill Kellett have  enjoyed cooking for their families and friends over many years and want to share the pleasure of creating lovingly cooked food.

We offer a variety of courses, suitable for both beginners and more able cooks.  We aim to inspire confidence and encourage creative cookery skills. Our small, friendly sessions allow  pupils to grow their confidence in a relaxed setting.  Each session will be predominately  hands on cookery, plus demonstrations and sampling.  All necessary equipment and ingredients are included within the course fee.

Unless otherwise stated, you will take home the food that you make together with the recipes.

Louise and Gill both hold the level 2 award in Food Safety in Catering.

  1. Gill and Louise are good fun and well organised. Their first course was a great success. Their recipes for lemon drizzle cake and scones in particular will be kept at home for future use as the best. I hope their future program will be a bit more meaty – even veggie. I’ve suggested pork pies with hot water pastry and jelly to fill the gaps.

Just to say I thoroughly enjoyed my morning of wreath making and I am delighted with my Christmas wreath….although it’s so lovely I might not take it down in
January! The mulled apple juice, the mince pies and the yummy lunch were also wonderful as was the company of yourselves and my fellow wreath makers. As a working mum it was a real treat to take time out and learn something new in an relaxed and friendly environment.

Good luck with all your future courses and hopefully see you again soon!

  3. Thank you Ladies for an enjoyable morning making bread, prepared in a bread maker, I will now be able to use my breadmaker more confidently and be more adventurous with different flours. Love the two soup recipes, they will definately become favourites. Great to spend time with you both and get to know my fellow students, and to take bread, rolls and soup home was very rewarding! Good luck with your new venture, I’ll be back. Anne 🍵🍞

  4. I have enjoyed both the afternoon tea and wreath making. Both good fun and with good and helpful teachers. Even I managed to go home with a decent standard wreath which now sits proudly on my front door. The best bit about the courses is getting fed with excellent home-made food. I look forward to the 2017 courses.

  5. Dear Louise and Gill,
Thank you so much again for the cooking class! Adam and I both really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it.
We found the ease of the meals and the fact that they were quick to make really helpful. I also hadn’t realised how much could be done in a microwave and thought desserts made in the microwave were very appealing. Having the recipes written down to take home was also great. One improvement we thought could be added was a rough price for each recipe, just for reference. The basic skills like how to efficiently chop vegetables were surprisingly helpful and the emphasis on clearing away while cooking and cooking in a smaller space were all really good.
I think that’s all we had to say. Thanks again for the class!
